Domain Name System (DNS) is a service that converts human-readable addresses. In other words, they convert websites like “www.tecmundo.com.br” into computer-readable IP addresses with numerical combinations.

There are a number of free DNS that you can point your internet to for daily use as a way to protect your data while browsing. The easiest way to perform the procedure is to use Windows 11, which has a specific way to perform the action.

Step by step to change PC DNS in Windows 11

1. Go to the Windows 11 search bar and type “Settings”;

2. Then click on the “Settings” option to access the menu;

3. On the screen that opens, click on the “Network and Internet” option in the left column as in the image below;

Look for the "Network & Internet" option.

4. Then click on “Ethernet” on the right side of the screen;

Click on "Ethernet" to access the network options.

5. Now scroll down and click on the “Edit” button under the “DNS server assignment” option;

6. On the screen that opens, click on the option and change the option to “Guides”;

Click it and change the option to "Guides".

7. Now enable the “IPv4” option and fill in the following fields:

  • Preferred DNS – 8.8.8.8
  • Alternative DNS – 8.8.4.4

Fill in the fields correctly to change DNS.

8. Then also enable the “IPv6” option and enter the IP number you want;

You must fill in the IP address field that you want to use.

9. That’s it, now just click “Save” and the changes will be made.
