Victor Bout decided to register three trademarks at once: “Victor Bout”, “Cool like Bout” and Victor Bout. The texts of the applications indicate that each of them specifies the classes of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS), which are suitable for the production of non-alcoholic and low-alcohol beverages, as well as wine and spirits.
“Recently, several products have started to appear that use my name. I consulted with lawyers and decided that I needed to register my trademark. I don’t plan to produce anything under this concept yet,” says Booth.
Bout was arrested at the request of the United States in 2008 while in Thailand. He was charged with illegal arms trafficking and supporting terrorism. In 2010 he was transferred to the United States and extradited to the country, where in 2012 he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The Russian did not admit his guilt. Bout was released on December 8, 2022.
Hyundai, which left Russia, has once again registered trademarks in the country. The carmaker, which will stop producing and selling its cars in the Russian Federation in 2022, has sent at least 17 applications to Rospatent requesting their registration.
