Russian company RuVDS will launch into orbit a picosatellite that will form the basis of the Ismpanager virtual server control panel. The launch is planned for late 2024 – early 2025. According to company representatives, this will be the first time such technology has been used in space.
RuVDS announced that a special version of Ispmanager adapted to satellite equipment was developed for the space mission. RuVDS General Manager Nikita Tsaplin expressed his confidence in the success of the team, noting that the project fully meets the goals set for the satellite. In contrast, Ispmanager president Fedor Bogomolov emphasized that entering orbit is an important step for the company, adding that it opens new horizons in product development.
The new satellite will be the second satellite for RuVDS. The first device, launched in 2023, enabled website hosting directly from space and experimented with cybersecurity. The new satellite, created on the basis of the Trisat platform, weighs only 0.5 kg but is equipped with all the necessary systems, including a microcomputer with a camera. The developers are confident that this will become a popular tool for IT enthusiasts and space technology enthusiasts.
