According to new information, Firefox version 115 ESR (Extended Support Release) will continue to receive updates until April 2025. This means that users of these systems will be able to safely use the browser at least until next spring.
The decision to expand support is due to the fact that a significant portion of Firefox users are still running older versions of Windows.
While maintaining support may require additional effort from Mozilla, the company felt it was worth it at this time. However, Firefox 116 and later will no longer support Windows 7 and 8, allowing developers to focus on improving code for newer operating systems starting with Windows 10.
