Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said demand for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max was “lower than expected.”
His information is based on “supply chain procedures” and delivery time estimates listed on Apple’s website. Based on these figures, all four iPhone 16 models sold about 37 million units in the first weekend, down 13% from the same period across the entire iPhone 15 chain. The key indicator of the decline is lower demand for the Pro models.
At the same time, sales of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in the first weekend, according to analytics, fell by 27% and 16% compared to sales of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max for the same period last year.
The “basic” iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus saw higher demand than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, this was not enough to compensate for the lower demand for the “Pros.”
Kuo believes that one of the main factors was the absence of Apple Intelligence in the iPhone 16 release. The new AI only appeared in iOS 18.1 in October.
