The second round of reviews by foreign journalists has begun. Today they share their impressions of the latest Apple Watch Series 10.

We have already studied the articles and are telling you what is so special about the watch. Let’s figure it out.

1. Edge

One of the first leaders is traditionally The Verge.

The original Apple Watch was 38mm and 42mm. Series 4 grew to 40mm and 44mm, Series 7 to 41mm and 45mm. Series 10 is now 42mm and 46mm. The publication notes that it is usually against making watches bigger, but the Series 10 LED is worth every millimeter.

The 10 weighs about half as much and, at 9.7mm, is about 30% thinner than the Ultra. They fit easily under jacket cuffs, don’t get caught on straps during Pilates, and don’t slide up and down your arm while running. The on-screen buttons are also slightly larger.

Also unexpected: I love the wide-angle OLED display. I can see the time from almost all angles. I would never suggest anyone to glance at a text from their wrist during an important meeting, of course. But I can be guilty of making it 100% easier now.

You can go from there with the less comfortable Ultra. Thanks to their shape and thinner body, they sit on your hand the way they should. And nothing hinders your movements.

There is no red wheel in the LTE version this year.

As a rule, if there are more watches, then there is more battery inside them. This is not the case here. Everything is aimed at reducing the thickness of the case, but at the same time the operating time must be preserved.

What has changed is the charging speed. Now you can refill 80% in 30 minutes, 15 minutes of charging gives you eight hours of use, and minutes gives you hours of identified sleep.

I put my Series 10 on charge when I shower or get ready in the morning. By that time, the watch is already charged. I haven’t received a single low battery notification in a week.

As for sleep apnea, it will take longer to implement the function. The watch measures this indicator for 30 days. It works with very summer users.

2. Engadget

Series 9 and Series 10

Engadget also shared their impressions. Here is their adapted text:

Compared to the Series 9, the latest Apple Watch is slightly larger, noticeably thinner, and lighter. There’s not a huge generational difference that you’ll notice without holding the two watches side by side. However, every time I pick up the Series 10, I candidly express genuine, sincere joy. The shape is more comfortable, the case is thinner, and the edges are more rounded. Somehow, the new watch looks a little like a cookie, while the Series 9 looks more like a smaller mahjong tile.

The Apple Series 10 is only 9.7mm thick, which is certainly a feat considering the Pixel Watch 3 is still quite thick at 12mm.

Apple is also using a wide-angle OLED display this year to make it easier to read, even if your wrist is just resting on a table rather than in front of your eyes. Again, the change is noticeable in my observations, but not huge. There also seems to be more contrast between the time digits with the photo in the background, making the watch easier to see from an angle.

What’s a little disappointing is that the bezels on the 10 series are slightly thicker than on the 9 series. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a fact. This change is due to the metal frame being thinner, which is a counterweight to better protect the screen.

What Apple has brought to the Series 10 is the ability to play music and podcasts through the watch’s speaker. It may seem silly to want to use a tiny device for any kind of media, especially things like songs where you’d want at least some semblance of sound quality to make the experience enjoyable. In the few days I’ve had the Series 10, I’ve never seen a need to stream songs through the watch’s speaker until I had to protest it.

On the upper level in a quiet conference room, I enjoyed listening to Sori’s “Running Through the Night” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.” Given the circumstances and the size of the watch, the mids and highs were crisp and clear. But you certainly wouldn’t want to listen to music through them.

On battery life: After an 8am cross-training session involving a GPS walk and full Slack and Telegram notifications during the day, the Series 10 managed to retain 46% of its charge at 11:45pm upon returning home. The Series 9 was already at 19%. The same brightness and Always-On settings were used in these models.

To use fast charging (30 minutes -> 80%), you need a certified series 7 or higher cable.

However, while many Garmin, Fitbit, and even Samsung users can get two days and even seven days of battery life from a single charge, a day and a half for the Apple Watch feels like a number that could be higher.
