Platforms “Friend Around” and “Mamba” remain leaders in dating services; “VK Dating” is gaining popularity.

Fintech Lab accelerator analyst Sergei Vilyanov said that Tinder in Russia only works with foreign phone numbers and with a VPN. It works best on Android, but it has been removed from official app stores and is not updated on iPhone.

“Therefore, among the remaining 95,000 users there are relatively few foreigners who come to Russia and those who really want to meet them. For the mass user, the app is practically useless,” Villanov said.

On the most popular dating services in Russia, the male audience makes up 64% of all users. Users aged 18-24 are the most active on Nekto ME, Russians aged 25-44 most often use the Friend Around service, and those aged 45+ prefer Fotostrana and Mamba.

The total revenue of all dating apps in Russia this year will reach $52.6 million, up 8.8% from 2023, according to forecasts by the Statista agency.
