The lawyer spoke about Bakalchuk’s whereabouts after the shooting with the victims in Wildberries

“He was illegally prevented from accessing the office of a company of which he is a co-founder and has every right to access the office. During the conversation on the ground floor of the business center, Vladislav and his representatives were attacked by armed Wildberries guards, among whom, as is known, was an armed terrorist,” the lawyer said.

Later, an explanation appeared on Bakalchuk’s Telegram channel “on behalf of a group of lawyers” that the businessman had not been detained or arrested.

“The information regarding his arrest in reference to the lawyers is false and does not correspond to reality,” the message explains.

A few hours after the shooting, in which two Wildberries security guards were killed, Bakalchuk said that he had given a statement to the police and was ready to fully cooperate with the investigation. The businessman claims that he had come to his wife’s office to hold peace talks on the construction of logistics centres and that the people accompanying him were not armed. At the office where the owner of VB Development arrived, he was greeted by representatives of the market and the shooting began.

Wildberries called the incident an “armed attack” and “an attempted takeover by an assailant” and accused Bakalchuk’s associates of the shooting.

“According to the video recordings of eyewitnesses published in the media, armed persons accompanying Vladislav tried to enter the Romanov Dvor business centre, including through broken windows. They were the first to open fire,” the market said in a statement.

According to the market’s press service, a group of 30-40 people dressed in military uniform entered the business center where the company’s office is located, broke down the door and used physical force against the security guard. Friends of Vladislav Bakalchuk, lawyers in business suits, arrived at the office with them.

“This attempted takeover by an attacker was carried out with the direct participation and under the leadership of Vladislav Bakalchuk,” the company said.

A criminal case has been initiated on charges of murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, arbitrariness and encroachment on the lives of law enforcement officers.
