This doesn’t even require complex and expensive systems; the equipment can be assembled from components found at electronics stores. Now expensive F-35 stealth fighter jets can be detected using a homemade device.
About 7,000 Starlink satellites in low orbit are constantly beaming high-frequency signals toward Earth, creating a kind of “radio rain.”
Any object in the air disrupts this flow, making it possible to detect it. The approach is similar to radar, but does not involve active radiation.
Passive reception of signals from satellites makes the method particularly attractive, as only interference analysis is required to reconstruct the target profile.
According to the South China Morning Post, the experiment was carried out with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone in the South China Sea.
Chinese engineers were able to identify the object and even correct the rotation of the propellers. The technology is still in development, but the prospects are impressive.
