Former Apple chief designer Jony Ive has confirmed that he is working with OpenAI on a revolutionary artificial intelligence device. I met the OpenAI CEO last year, during which time they had several meetings.

A year ago, the Financial Times reported that he was developing an artificial intelligence device for OpenAI. At the same time, it was reported that Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son would invest $1 billion in this project.
Jony Ive has confirmed that his design firm LoveForm is working on OpenAI’s first consumer device. It is expected to raise $1 billion in funding for early-stage development of the project by the end of 2024. However, Son’s name is not mentioned in the NY Times article.
Little is known about the new device. The project employs ten people, including key people who worked with Ive on the iPhone: Tang Tan and Evans Hankey.
