Spotify is finally allowing creators to deliver subscriber-only content in a single stream. The new feature is part of an update to the Open Access API and is called “Synchronized Publications” (free translation: “Synchronized publications”).
THE S.Inched Feeds makes it easier to access creators’ paid contentr enables central viewing in the Spotify stream. The platform now serves as an even more complete hub for profile material.
THE the streaming platform has never prohibited creators from distributing content solely to supportersbut they had to resort to temporary solutions. One well-known method is to post a trailer for a podcast episode on Spotify, for example, with a link to the full post on an alternative service.
Now, Spotify feed includes both free and paid content. Supporter-only materials appear in the profile feed and visitors are given the option to subscribe to access the full post.
Enabling the feature is manual, of course. It is the creator’s responsibility to enable “Synchronized Streams” on their Spotify for Podcasters account.
To access the tool you must use the Open Access API and enable synchronization with content on other platforms.
Naturally, to browse paid content listeners need to link their alternative platform accounts to their Spotify profiles. Luckily for creators, streaming doesn’t charge any fees for integration.
According to Spotify, more than half of podcasters with content on Patreon have taken advantage of the tool. This audience noticed 15% more subscribers after linking their stream.
