Ahead of the presidential primary, robocalls targeting New Hampshire voters urged voters not to participate in the Democratic primary, claiming that voting would benefit Republicans.

The message, which included an AI copy of the voice, read: “Voting this Tuesday only allows Republicans to achieve their desire to re-elect Donald Trump.” This deceptive tactic violated the law prohibiting spoofing caller IDs for deceptive purposes.

The FCC may consider tightening regulations on AI tools, but it seems unlikely it will get to that point for now.
