Google Lens has finally been improved to recognize objects in videos. Innovation uses artificial intelligence “AI-powered overview” to provide answers to saved content.
The new feature, introduced during this year’s Google I/O, has been included in the Google search app for Android and the dedicated Google Lens app. When available, feature allows you to record video and request response from Google.
The site’s reporter at a demonstration Android PoliceMishaal Rahman uses the tool to request information about a watch. In the video, asks the question out loud and shows the accessory to the camera.
As soon as the request is finished, the video is frozen and the user is redirected to the Google search results screen. Responses apparently take into account an AI-generated summary and voice prompt showing relevant websites below, as well as images presented.
THE the result is not always correcthighlighted website AndroidPolice. In some tests, Google recognition confuses object in focusIt’s like thinking the iPhone 11 is the iPhone XR.
Rahman’s own demonstration shows that the tool got it wrong: The smartwatch on offer is a OnePlus Watch 2, but Google’s AI believes it’s a Watch 2R.
Moreover, innovation is somewhat limited: Unlike Lens for photos, it is impossible to search from videos saved in the gallery. Therefore, it is only possible to benefit from video support for instant captures.
It looks like the tool is being gradually rolled out to all users. It may take a few days for the tool to reach all users, but it’s always a good idea to keep your Google app updated to the latest version.
