I recently upgraded my home TV to a giant 65-inch panel and I still can’t get used to such a screen, endlessly watching old and new films.
However, the TV comes with a remote control that contains applications for launching certain applications, including Okko, Start, VK Video and YouTube.
65 inches of high, something stirred in my soul. I’m testing a frameless AKAI TV (model TA65BU700) with 4K and powerful hardware.
I decided to reconfigure the YouTube button to open something more useful, like Apple TV, because I have it installed on my TV.
I figured out how to do it, I’ll tell you. This works with all smart TVs running Android TV or Google TV, and there’s the ability to install apps from Google Play.
It is clear that there can be any buttons, as well as applications that these buttons can be “hung”.
How to reset the button on the TV remote control
The first step is to download an application called Button Mapper. On Android TVs you can find it in the store, and on Google TV you can search for it in the Apps section.
After installation, go to Button Mapper and do the following:
1. Select “Add Button”
2. Click “Add Button” again
3. Press the remote control button you want to reconfigure.
4. Next, click on the button that appears (for me it’s Button_12)
5. Activate the toggle switch in the “Settings” line
6. Go to the “Single Compression” section
7. Select “Actions” and then select “Applications” from the menu that appears.
Everything is the same in the pictures:
I chose Apple TV, but you can choose anything, even KinoPub. Everything is in your hands here.
How to install Kinopub on iPhone, Android or Apple TV
Then just go back to your home screen and test. For example, now when I click on the YouTube button, Apple TV starts up instead.
The Button Mapper application can be tried to be loaded while configuring the settings, but this can be done externally. The functionality of the sufficient version is enough to reconfigure several buttons.
Now you can put a Netflix button on your TV remote for some really useful action.
Use it
