The preliminary investigation into the case of blogger and founder of the Like Center business school, Ayaz Shabutdinov, has concluded, his lawyer Dmitry Grigoriadi informed RB.RU. The defense anticipates that the first trial will take place in January-February 2025.

The defendant’s lawyers had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with all the materials of the criminal case, which amounts to more than 100 volumes. The defense will analyze all the details, formulate a position and evidence that will be presented to the court.
“At the moment, we have gathered a large amount of evidence of Ayaz’s complete innocence in all cases and the absurdity of the accusation, which, of course, sets a precedent and will have a further negative legal impact on the entire sphere of education. services,” said Grigoriadi.
According to him, for each point of accusation, the defense has a complete database of materials refuting the accusation: independent examinations, analytical studies and reports, interrogations of witnesses, answers to questions and other evidence.
On August 15, 2024, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court extended Shabutdinov’s arrest until October 16.

The founder of the Like Center was arrested in November 2023 on charges of large-scale fraud. The second person involved, the general director of the business school Vasily Alekseev, was included in the international wanted list in July 2024.

According to investigators, Shabutdinov and his accomplices, on behalf of companies controlled by them, including Like Center, sold courses, trainings and webinars, giving clients false hope of creating a successful business and receiving excess income. The defendant did not admit guilt.

In June 2024, five more criminal cases were opened against the businessman, for which up to 10 years in prison are expected.
