Meta* CEO Mark Zuckerberg took second place in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI) ranking of the world’s richest people for the first time. He beat Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Zuckerberg’s fortune is estimated at $206 billion, Bezos’s at $205 billion. The first place on the list is occupied by Elon Musk with a fortune of 256 billion dollars.

Since the beginning of 2024, according to BBI, Zuckerberg’s fortune has increased by $78 billion. This occurred against the backdrop of Meta shares reaching a record value of $582.77.

As Bloomberg notes, “Zuckerberg’s bet on the metaverse, which initially seemed like a huge failure, has paid off in recent months.”

The top five ranking also includes the founder and president of the LVMH group of companies, Bernard Arnault (193 billion dollars) and the co-founder of Oracle, Larry Ellison (179 billion dollars).
