The ability to sync contacts across devices has started testing in WhatsApp Beta for Android. The tool allows you to save contacts directly to the platform profile and access them from another mobile phone.
The contact sync option was in development in September this year. As expected, this option allows you to enable contact sharing with other devices associated with your account.
“Your contacts will be saved in WhatsApp. If you change your phone or reinstall WhatsApp, they will automatically be restored to your WhatsApp account, including your connected devices,” the app explains.
Naturally Sync function is completely optional and unfortunately the user does not have access to detailed control over the registered contacts list. For example, you cannot remove specific contacts from syncing between devices.
You can disable synchronization at any time from the same section. But when you disable the feature, all contacts on that device will be excluded from syncing.
Contacts protected by encryption
WABetaInfo website, which discovers innovation in tests, highlights that the tool uses encryption-protected pairing. The tool makes it possible to protect the phone numbers of people who are not on the messenger, while also allowing to monitor suspicious use of the backup feature.
Contact sync tool for now not publicly available and is distributed to test users only. The functionality is included in version 2.24.21.26 of WhatsApp Beta for Android.
There is no prediction regarding the exact launch of the resource.
