“Access to the Discord messenger is limited due to a violation of the requirements of Russian legislation, the implementation of which is necessary to prevent the use of the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes, the recruitment of citizens to commit them, the sale of drugs. , and in connection with the publication of illegal information,” said representatives of RKN.

Early on October 8, Russian users reported a service outage. Russians also complained of problems accessing the platform on September 19 and 26.

At the end of September, Moscow’s Tagansky District Court fined Discord 3.5 million rubles for failing to remove prohibited information. Shortly before, Kommersant reported that the site could be blocked in Russia at the request of the RKN, which sent five orders to the courier.

On October 1, RKN announced that they demanded that the service remove 947 materials containing calls for extremism, suicide, pro-drugs and other prohibited content. The same day, the FSB announced the arrest of nine teenagers who were preparing attacks through Discord.
