The Moscow Arbitration Court recovered from the German bank UniCredit Bank GmbH more than 172 million euros (18.2 billion rubles) in favor of the Russian JSC UniCredit Bank. This is reported by a RIA Novosti correspondent from the courtroom.

The Russian bank filed a lawsuit in April 2024, demanding to recover the debt under three counterguarantees and interest for untimely compliance with the obligations derived from them. In total, the claim amounted to almost 175 million euros.
UniCredit Bank with its guarantees secured the obligations of the Siemens company under contracts with Russian Railways for the supply of trains. In 2022, Siemens refused to honor the agreements. After a judicial procedure, the Russian bank paid the guarantees to the railway company.
Subsequently, the credit institution, as an appeal, filed a lawsuit against the German bank UniCredit and demanded payment of the counterguarantees that had been granted. The Russian court partially upheld the claim, reducing the interest claimed by the plaintiff.
In May 2024, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region arrested the assets of UniCredit, Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank as interim measures in the cases of RusKhimAlliance LLC against the engineering contractor Linde.
