Taiwanese company GIGABYTE has unveiled a relatively large 54.6-inch gaming monitor that uses a large-scale local dimming UHD quantum dot display.
The S55U features an esports-grade frequency of 120Hz, 2ms GtG response time, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, and HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) connectivity to support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Mode low latency (ALLM) and other advanced gaming features. Users will also find plenty of apps installed including YouTube, Chromecast, and Netflix with an Android-based display. GIGABYTE did not reveal the price of the S55U in its press release, but the display has already been listed at some retailers such as Newegg for $1,099.99. The next largest 4K monitor will be the FO48U, which features a 48-inch, 120Hz OLED panel.
“GIGABYTE 4K resolution monitors deliver sharp, detailed images for a more realistic viewing experience!” – says the advertising slogan of the Taiwanese company.
With Quantum Dot technology, it offers a brighter display with 96% DCI-P3 color space, higher brightness and HDR effects, which offers a richer variety of color gradations and higher fidelity.
Local dimming technology can increase the contrast ratio to provide a better picture by dimming the desired area of the screen while keeping the bright side of the screen bright. With a 132-zone array, you can get the best images and vivid reflections possible with HDR content.
