As reported by Bleeping Computer, the size of the potential threat in addition to the leaks detected is enormous. Marriott is one of the world’s largest hotel companies, operating more than 7,000 hotels and resort complexes in 130 countries. Starwood was previously a separate entity and is now responsible for data security and related hotel operations.
In addition to paying money to resolve the breach, Marriott must establish and promptly implement a comprehensive information security program for its hotel business. Marriott must also allow U.S. customers to request deletion of their personal data.
