Well-known journalist Mark Gurman spoke about Apple’s plans to expand in the smart home sector, starting in 2025.
The company plans to focus on three main areas:
1. Apple Intelligence integration with a focus on Siri
2. Development of a new homeOS platform based on tvOS
3. Expansion of accessories thanks to the Matter standard
The company wants to create a powerful automation system with artificial intelligence that provides precise control of devices, applications and media. At the heart of Apple Intelligence will be a new App Intents system that will allow Siri to control mechanisms within applications.
According to Gurman, a new smart display from Apple will be created in 2025. It will be an affordable iPad-like device that will allow you to watch content from Apple TV+, use FaceTime video calls, use a web browser, and use apps like Calendar and Notes. It is expected to be powered by the A18 processor and can be used in different rooms of the house.
However, the smart display does not replace the HomePod, it will complement it. In the future, a more expensive product will also be developed, focusing on high quality audio, video conferencing and external home security. The device will feature a rotating light on a robotic arm and will likely cost around $1,000. [9to5]
