Scientists conducted tests to find out how effectively social networks fulfill their protection responsibilities. They were able to create a “test” bot and publish the post on all platforms except Meta*, where the process required more time and experimentation.
The easiest bots to launch were Reddit, Mastodon, and X (formerly Twitter); here protection could not prevent their activities. The study showed that you can easily create a bot using publicly available technologies, even with minimal knowledge and without requiring special training.
The researchers concluded that current social media protection measures are inadequate.
