Under the proposal, wage increases would be achieved in several stages (four years in total): plus 12% in the first year, another 8% in each of the following two years and then a final 7%, Axios reports.

Previously, Boeing management offered a 25% pay increase, but union representatives rejected the deal. The strike began on September 13 amid news of layoffs, Axios recalls.

The proposal will now go to a union vote on October 23. More than half of union members must vote in favor of an agreement that could end the strike.

Over the past year, Boeing aircraft have repeatedly appeared in the news related to breakdowns and unsafe flights, so the corporation is trying to improve production and save its reputation.
