Gboard finally lets you change the keyboard character font. In the test version of the application, a customization option was found that allows. switch between default system font and Google font.
By default, Gboard adopts Google Sans fontRegardless of the font defined in the system. This creates a visual inconsistency on the device, causing the keyboard to become one of the few areas with a different font.
This difference has been resolved in version 14.7 of Gboard, which is currently in Beta: In the “View” menu (Settings > Preferences > Appearance) found an option to switch between the default Gboard font and the system-defined font.
In tests conducted on the 9to5Google website, which discovered the new feature, prints show Gboard with Google Sans and RobotoDefault font for Pixel phones. But on interfaces with more font options (Samsung One UI, for example), Gboard needs to adapt to any chosen appearance.
Since this is still a testing functionality, there is no estimate for the general availability of the new feature. If you’re a tester, it’s worth checking the Play Store to see if there are any pending updates for Gboard and trying out the option.
