The presenter tested two laptops that differ from each other only in the amount of video memory: 8 or 16 GB. This is Gigabyte Aorus 15P YD. You can see its features in the picture below.
Only six games were released on laptops in 1080p, 1440p, 4K resolution. Alan Wake 2 puts a huge load on the video memory. When we look at the real FPS value in Full HD, we can see that both laptops perform almost the same. The average frame rate on High and RT Low graphics was 31fps. At 1440p resolution, you can see more than 8GB of video memory being used at almost every setting level (except the lowest setting). True, in terms of average FPS the difference is still not that big. In 4K this is even more evident.
Below you can see the measurements for all games.

The difference in gaming between laptops with 8 and 16 GB video memory was not that significant. So in most cases you won’t notice it. At least in Alan Wake 2, Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, Forza Horizon 5 and Hogwarts Legacy. You should also understand that the graphics cards in gaming laptops are not as powerful as those in desktop computers. So, with 8 GB and 16 GB of video memory, the result is approximately the same, unlike on a PC, where 8 GB is no longer enough for modern games at 1440p.
