Kommersant recognized the applicants of the Russian company Auchan

According to Kommersant’s interlocutors, among the contenders for the retailer’s Russian business are Lenta, Magnit and X5 Group (owner of the Perekrestok, Pyaterochka and other retail chains). Lenta and X5 Group declined to comment on the publication; Magnit told the newspaper they were not negotiating.

One of the newspaper’s interlocutors confirmed the probability that Auchan will leave Russia, but did not say that this process is in its final stage. According to a Kommersant source in the retail market, if Auchan’s local assets are sold to a Russian company, all “French” stores will most likely move to the buyer’s brand.

• La Lettre reported on October 24 that the French chain had decided to leave the Russian market. According to the magazine, Auchan and a potential buyer could sign an agreement in the coming weeks.
• Le Figaro writes that the Mulier family, which owns the company, has selected two potential buyers, but has not yet received approval from the Russian authorities. The reason for Auchan’s departure from Russia was “deteriorating business conditions in the local market,” a source close to the retailer said.
• The press service of Auchan Retail Russia, in response to a request from RB.RU, neither confirmed nor denied the departure from Russia: “For several years there have been rumors about the sale of Auchan Retail Russia and the departure of our company. of the Russian market, something we have repeatedly denied. On all occasions, Auchan’s response was the same: “We do not comment on rumors.”
