Wildberries plans to enter the UAE market and open pickup points (POPs) in Dubai. The co-founder of the market Tatyana Kim spoke about this in an interview with RBC.

“[В ОАЭ] High purchasing power is developed, a large concentration of stores, shopping centers, restaurants, delivery. There is a great demand for the consumption of products from various categories that are presented in our market. And in recent years the presence of the Russian diaspora has increased considerably,” said the businessman.
He added that there are already dominant companies in some markets, but Wildberries “has a lot to offer.” “At the very least, a large audience in those countries where we are already present,” Kim explained.
According to her, there are now two strong players in the UAE, Amazon and Noon Emirates, but Wildberries “sees its advantage in the strategy of opening collection points that do not yet exist in this country.”
This is not the first time Kim has said the Russian market is considering the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries as potential regions for trade expansion. In April he said the company wanted to launch a “full platform story” in Dubai. Wildberries currently operates in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan.

In June, outdoor advertising operator Russ and the marketplace announced a merger and, in July, the creation of a united company, RVB. The Wildberries business was transferred to him in July and the Russ assets in October.

Together, Wildberries and Russ plan to create the “new digital commerce platform”, whose geography should cover Russia, the CIS countries, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, India and China (more than 5.8 billion people in total ).
