Since the beginning of the year, 22% of incoming letters to Yandex Mail users were identified as potentially dangerous and sent as spam. Most of them are advertisements for online casinos, information about alleged payments from banks and corporations, as well as letters with a malicious link.

22% of incoming emails to Yandex 360 users turned out to be spam

Since the beginning of 2023, 22% of incoming letters that passed through Yandex 360’s Spam Defense service were recognized as potentially dangerous and considered spam. This was reported by the Yandex 360 press service.

Over the ten months of this year, the service’s servers processed more than 78 billion letters. More than 56 million incoming emails were sent to spam every day. These are mainly online casino advertisements, information about alleged payments from banks and corporations, and letters with malicious links.

The company reported that it has improved the spam detection mechanism: if previously the user clicked on the “this is spam” button to take this signal into account when processing new emails, it took from one to five minutes, but now the process It lasts no more than five seconds.
