Bundles for the price of AAA games, battle pass, crew upgrade, premium account, talismans, free experience conversion, there are even loot boxes with vehicles and camos. Does everything affect gameplay? Naturally “Yes”. A player with upgraded vehicles and aces certainly has an advantage over standard vehicles and tier 1 crew. But does this make the game worse or less fun? The answer is no”.
Why?
Direct hands decide. Knowledge of enemy maps and equipment, knowledge of game mechanics and the ability to use them – even a fully upgraded tank can be destroyed with a single hit.
Not all equipment in the game is equally useful. The famous French reserves and some armored KV-1s are clearly not in the same league. Also, not all premtechniques by their appearance on the battlefield destroy the entire enemy team (so no technique can do this).
Diversity. The game client includes aviation, ground vehicles and fleet, divided into various arcade levels (AB, RB, SB). Each mode has its own features and provides a different gaming experience.
The interest continues. It is interesting to play at any range, you can have fun playing both a biplane with a pair of rifle-caliber machine guns and a supersonic fighter with air-to-air missiles. Lots of people have a lot more fun playing the mid ranges than they do on the higher machines. And most importantly, all researched and acquired equipment stays in the hangar forever.
Realism. The game has characteristics close to its real prototypes. There is a more or less correct damage model and operation of different types of ammunition. The game is reminiscent of Gran Turismo about military equipment: it doesn’t look like an arcade game, but it’s clearly not a simulator either. It’s nice to fly a plane or drive a tank, like in the famous Sony racing game, going around in a car.
Free game. There is an exchange, thanks to which you can play without any donation. Of course, not everyone will be able to collect all the coupons from all the marathons, but there is still an opportunity to get premium content in the form of a game. After all, vacation discounts aren’t going anywhere.
conclusions
War Thunder is more about “collect all Pokemon” than it is about a silly grind for grind’s sake. Unfortunately, there are no analogues of “Tundra” yet. There are bug issues here, but at its core, the game is very good. If nothing else, these are definitely the best arcade planes ever made.
