Unveiled at I/O 2024 in May, Astra is an ambitious project from Google DeepMind that aims to create the next generation of artificial intelligence assistants. Unlike existing voice assistants, Astra aims to “understand” the world around us more deeply (using a camera or an image from the screen, for example) and interact with the user on a more “natural” level. Pichai announced that Google plans to make these features available as early as 2025.

Additionally, Pichai also talked about the ongoing development of Gemini models, stating that the third-generation Gemini 2.0 is expected in early December. Google also reported strong demand for the Pixel 9 series.
