Today Apple announced a series new special features available for iPhone and iPad, and according to the company, it will appear next year; most likely along with iOS 17. So these are the first features the company is revealing in the next iPhone update. The new benefits are specifically designed to improve the daily lives of people with cognitive, visual, auditory or movement problems. They also combine both hardware features and hardware and machine learning.

One of the new accessibility features coming with iOS 17 is Auxiliary access. This is a way that “overtakes” applications, saving only the main functions and adjusting some elements, such as the size of buttons and text, and so on. For example, Assistive Access combines the Phone app and the FaceTime app into one with both features. The camera gets one mode and a big shutter, or Messages only shows the emoji keyboard and the ability to send videos.

Apple also announced live speech for iOS 17, a new accessibility feature for people who cannot speak or are at risk of losing the ability to speak. Among them, for example, those who have been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Specifically, with Live Speech, users simply type on the screen and the iPhone speaks the text aloud. This feature also includes a section where you can save frequently used phrases to immediately activate them and make your conversation smoother.

Live Speech in iOS 17 will also let you create a “personal voice” that the iPhone can then play back the user’s own voice. To do this, and within 15 minutes, the user must read and write down different phrases in order to train the iPhone so that it can dictate any other phrase by voice.

More accessibility improvements coming soon in iOS 17.

The iPhone Magnifier app in iOS 17, on the other hand, will be able to read aloud the buttons the user points to. This is a feature for people with vision problems. Apple also uses “input from the camera app, LiDAR scanner, and machine learning.” A person only needs to point the camera at the button and point with a finger. The iPhone will then detect the text and dictate it out loud.

More accessibility features coming to iPhone and iPad soon. They are next.

  • In iOS 17, hard of hearing users will be able to connect Made for iPhone hearing aids to Mac.
  • voice control in iOS 17 it will add phonetic suggestions for text editing. In this way, they will be able to choose the correct word if it is very similar to another.
  • Switches for control switch can be used as a game controller.
  • Apps such as Messages or Safari will allow you to pause moving images such as GIFs.
  • Voice behind the scene This will allow you to adjust the speed at which Siri speaks, choosing between speeds from 0.8x to 2x.
