The Ministry of the Interior of Tajikistan warned about the ban of GTA and Counter-Strike video games

“In accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan, the distribution of videos and games containing an immoral and violent character is strictly prohibited. In particular, according to the conclusion of the historical and cultural examination of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, the games Counter-Strike and GTA contain elements of violence, murder and robbery,” the ministry said in a statement.

They added that from the analysis of law enforcement agencies it appears that some young people and adolescents who regularly participate in these types of games “are under their negative influence and commit various crimes.”

The Dushanbe Department of the Interior Ministry demanded that all owners of computer gaming centers “do not allow the spread of GTA and Counter-Strike in the future,” and that citizens “must monitor their children and not allow them to play games.” that promote murder and violence.” They noted that “the capital police will carry out raids and verification activities.”

GTA is a series of games developed by the British studio Rockstar North and published by the American company Rockstar Games. The games are open-world third-person shooters that focus primarily on the criminal underworld. The franchise currently has at least 10 games, the first of which was released in 1997 and the last in 2013. The next part of the shooter is planned to be released in 2025.

Counter-Strike is also a series of games, but dedicated to the confrontation between terrorists and anti-terrorists and focused on multiplayer gameplay. The games in the series are developed by the American company Valve, which is also its publisher. At the moment, the franchise has five games: the first was released in 2000, the last – in 2023.
