After leaving IKEA, Kotyuga held the position of development director of the Furniture category at Yandex Market. In his new role, he will focus on assortment development strategy, strengthening offerings and improving the style and design of furniture and home goods. Kotyuga will also “introduce a new approach to product presentation in the chain’s hypermarkets and online,” the statement said.

The Kotyugi team, which also joined Hoff, “will develop its own R&D direction, develop the functionality and design of furniture and home furnishings, and strengthen the direction of improvement and implementation of new quality standards” the company said.

The Swedish IKEA announced its intention to leave the Russian market in 2022, after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine. In August of the same year, the retailer made its last inventory sale and in March 2023 it sold its last location in the country.

After the departure of IKEA in Russia, 20 million units of products remained unsold, which were purchased by Yandex Market in 2022. In 2023, Yandex hired Kotyuga and his team to increase the number of suppliers and manufacturers on the market, as well as to develop an online furniture selection designer.
