The uniqueness of the new installation lies in its efficiency: it consumes four times less energy than analogues, does not require significant investments for operation and allows maximum concentration of waste before shutdown. The press service noted that in the near future the installation will be put into pilot operation at the radiochemical plant of the Siberian Chemical Plant (SCC).
Institute director Konstantin Vergazov explained that induction melting technology can also be adapted to process high-level waste generated when using nuclear fuel. Modern solutions implemented at the Siberian Chemical Combine not only contribute to safe waste management, but also support Rosatom’s environmental policy.
