On November 7, the head of the ministry, Meutya Hafid, met with the general director of Yandex Search, Alexander Popovsky. The company announced plans to “expand its search platform” in the country, he said.
Yandex responded to RBC’s request that they are studying fast-growing markets, and Indonesia is one of them. A source in the IT market publication said he had heard about the company’s plans to invest in AI in this country, but noted that a final decision has not yet been made.
Yandex is actively investing in the development of AI. In October, the company launched a new generation of generative neural networks, YandexGPT 4, which can process about 60 pages of text and reason (support chain of thought function).
Indonesia has attracted the interest of several global technology companies in recent months. In April, Reuters wrote that Nvidia and local cellular operator Indosat plan to build an artificial intelligence center in the country worth $200 million.
