VKontakte will start warning users about suspicious activity in a new group chat or conversation with a stranger. It will be possible to report and block the attacker directly in correspondence, says the message from the social network.
The courier will warn about this using a special banner. Users who receive it will be able to immediately file a complaint and blacklist the potential scammer. This will remove the chat or dialogue.
The feature operates on the mobile app and will cover group chats, including those created by friends, as well as correspondence with non-friends.
The company believes that it will be more difficult for fraudsters to obtain money, passwords and other personal data from the user.
“Most users trust that they can easily recognize spam and phishing. Practice says the opposite: more than 90% of successful "hacks" of corporate and personal accounts are carried out by attackers using social engineering attacks," said Alexei Volkov, Vice President and Director of Information Security at VK.
Earlier, the VKontakte mobile app started to warn users about unwanted phone calls using automatic caller ID based on smart algorithms and Big Data.
