“The film “The Apprentice: The Rise of Trump” will not be released in Russia because it has not received a distribution certificate,” the press service noted. The reason for the refusal to rent is not indicated there.

The film was initially supposed to be released in Russia on October 31, but a few days after the premiere at the Message to Man festival in St. Petersburg, the film left the distribution schedule. Subsequently, the rental company’s press service reported that the film would be released on November 14.

Sebastian Stan played the lead role in the biopic. The film was released in the United States on October 10. The film chronicles Trump’s time as a real estate broker in New York City in the 1970s and ’80s and depicts his relationship with attorney Roy Cohn, who mentored Trump early in his career.

Trump campaign spokesman for the US presidential election, Stephen Chung, said the politician’s team intends to sue the filmmakers for distorting Trump’s biography. “We will file a lawsuit to address the blatantly false statements of these alleged directors,” he promised.
