Some details of films are remembered even better than the plot itself. For example, I can’t remember how The Matrix ended, but to this day, when I hear that title, an image of a Nokia phone with a beautiful cover pops into my head.
Or take Back to the Future for example: I think the sneakers from that movie are remembered better than the third part of the plot.
And today I have collected for you five iconic pieces from different films that you can buy. So if as a child you fought on a cell phone from “Boomer”, or looked with admiration at the watch on Ripley’s wrist from the movie “Alien”, then below you will find many interesting gadgets for yourself.
Let’s start with the classics:
1. Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 watch from the movie “Aliens”
When we remember gadgets from the movie “Aliens,” the first thing that comes to mind is a motion detector with its characteristic sound. However, there is one caveat: You won’t be able to get it in the store since it’s a product retrofuturism.
However, an attentive and enthusiastic eye notices another interesting detail in the film, already found in the real world. Ripley wears a Seiko Giugiaro 7A28-7000 on her wrist.

This watch was created not by a staff engineer of the Japanese company, but by a guest car designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro. They went on sale in 1983, but gained their first popularity after the release of James Cameron’s film.
By the way, interesting fact: Giorgetto Giugiaro has previously worked in the film industry and is responsible for the design of the iconic DeLorean DMC-12 from the movie Back to the Future.

2. Motorola DynaTAC cell phone from the meme “American Psycho”
To be honest, I never realized that Patrick Bateman has become a real symbol of modern subculture, clippings from the movie “American Psycho” – the most popular meme of recent years. The film itself(like the sequel and the original book) – the thing is too peculiar for amateurs.
However, besides the obsession with hedonism and corporate culture, there was something else in the film. American Psycho was one of many films that featured the first cell phone in history that could be used without speaking to an operator, the Motorola DynaTAC, as product placement.

The huge tube went on sale in 1983 for a whopping $3,995 (i.e. now it would cost 12 thousand dollars, taking into account inflation), had a truly monstrous size – 25 centimeters in height and almost 1 kilogram in weight.
Naturally, there was no display, and the body had only 10 digital buttons and two service buttons for sending and making calls. The battery lasted only an hour of talk time, and it took a full 10 hours to fully charge the phone.

3. The most famous Nokia phone after 3310 from The Matrix
What phone comes to your mind when it comes to Nokia products? Personally, I remember the indestructible and cool C6-01, but I’m sure for most it’s still the same 3310, which seems to be able to survive even a nuclear apocalypse.
However, geeks have at least one more option – Nokia 8110, which is popularly called “banana” due to its curved shape.

In 1999, Nokia was one of the largest players in the market and promoted new products, including through native advertising in cinema. “The Matrix” by the Wachowski brothersat that moment brothers) except did not.
To be fair, the phone from the film was designed in a single copy – the main feature was a slider with a button that was located on the side and, when pressed, effectively opened the lid.
Review of the classic new Nokia 8110. The most anticipated dialer of 2018.
After the release of the film, a limited edition of these pipes was created, but they sold out on the first day of sale and are almost impossible to find online. However, the Nokia 8110 is the closest thing to the film version, only there is no button on this phone, and the slider must be moved independently.
In 2018, the 8110 was re-released with a 4G prefix in the name and the KaiOS operating system (backward, useless and without the ability to install external applications) on board.

4. Iconic sneakers from Back to the Future
The 1989 sci-fi film Back to the Future 2 debuted the Nike Mag. The film was a hit and grossed $336 million. Initially, these sneakers were created only to create the atmosphere in the film. But many years later, the future has truly arrived.
The Nike Mag has an interesting history: in late 2009, Nike filed a patent for a self-lacing sneaker just like in the movies. However, it was not possible to implement the proposal the first time. And only in September 2011, a model appeared on the shelves that looked similar to the Nike Mag from the film.

The sneakers were limited to 1,500 units and sold through eBay charity auctions. All proceeds from sales went to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, who played the main role in the trilogy. The actor suffers from Parkinson’s disease, which struck him in 1991 and practically destroyed his foundation.
And in 2016, Nike Mag with automatic lacing also appeared. A total of 89 pairs with special motors were produced. Thanks to the sensor, the sneakers automatically adjust the lace fastening to the user’s parameters.

5. The iconic pipe from “Boomer” with the same ringtone
And we will end with something native and domestic. No, we didn’t come up with a Samsung R200 with a fashionable flip cover. With us, he found a melody that probably everyone noticed.
Surprisingly, it seems that the ringtone from “Boomer” written by Sergei Shnurov turned out to be more significant for culture than, in fact, the picture itself. However, I am sure that the cult turned out to be completely accidental, because a simple melody sounds in the background and is not even noticeable.
The choice of phone for this scene, by the way, is quite logical. At that time, the Samsung R200 was a popular “people’s” phone, which in terms of durability stood somewhere next to the indestructible Nokia 3310 and was inexpensive, even by the standards of the early 2000s.

Some small details are most memorable
In fact, there is much more to it than iconic product placement and iconic movie stuff. Please leave examples of what I may have missed in the comments. Or maybe some of you bought one of the above?
To summarize, I would like to note that many things are memorable thanks to thoughtful details. For example, I no longer remember what The Avengers was about, but I know for sure that the Vivo smartphone was actively advertised in one of the films.
Also, the cult “Starship Troopers” is gradually fading from my memory, but I still remember by chance, where Gary Busey played a transparent green violin. Whether this is good or bad is a moot point.
I voice this thought to you. Have a good day!
