At the time of this publication (17:35 Moscow time), the price of Bitcoin was $90,896 and within 24 hours it increased by 6.12%;
The second most popular token, Ethereum, also showed growth: in the last 24 hours, its price rose by 0.2% to $3,280. Elon Musk-backed meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin rose 12.94% to $0.414.
The price of Bitcoin began to rise in anticipation of the US presidential election and began to rise rapidly after the victory of Republican Donald Trump. On November 10, the token price for the first time exceeded 80 thousand dollars, the next day it exceeded 82 thousand dollars, on November 11 it rose to 84 thousand dollars and continued to increase. On November 12, the growth of the cryptocurrency temporarily stopped and its value fell to around $87 thousand.
In May, Trump said on his Truth Social social network that he was “very positive” about cryptocurrency companies and that the United States should become a leader in this space. In July, the politician spoke at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, promising to make the United States “the crypto capital of the planet and the Bitcoin superpower of the world.”
According to The Washington Post, since winning the election, Trump is considering pro-cryptocurrency candidates for positions at key US financial agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Among the candidates is Daniel Gallagher, a former SEC employee who now works for financial technology company Robinhood, which offers cryptocurrency wallets, sources told the newspaper.
