The head of the Mosfilm film concern, director Karen Shakhnazarov, spoke out against the slowdown of the YouTube video service in Russia.

This was stated to Vladimir Putin during a meeting in the Kremlin on November 13:

I shared with Vladimir Vladimirovich my opinion about the freezing of YouTube. I don’t think she’s very supportive. The government, there’s everything there. But those who watch and read some fortune-telling, they still bypass any restrictions. But watching films has become more difficult – this is a blow to many people.

— Karen Shakhnazarov

Shakhnazarov noted that the Russian President will “see” what can be done: “I’m not sure that he is fully considering this, but, in any case, I raised this issue.” According to the head of Mosfilm, Russian analogues in the form of VK and Rutube are still far from the level of YouTube coverage.
