Researchers from the University of Florida found that gardening reduced stress, anxiety, and depression in women in as little as two weeks. This study was led by experts from the Department of Ecological Horticulture, University of Florida School of Medicine, the University of Florida Center for the Medical Arts, and the Wilmot Florida Botanical Garden with colleagues.

The study included 32 women. Their ages ranged from 26 to 49. They did not have chronic diseases, did not smoke, did not drink alcohol, did not take medication for depression or anxiety. Half of the participants began to engage in gardening and half creativity.

In horticultural classes, women compared seeds, plants planted, crops harvested, edible fruit, and planted.

It is believed that “communicating” with plants makes a person feel better because he is naturally related to them as a biological species. The fact is that, according to scientists, food, shelter and the survival of humans in general depend on plants.
