A VKontakte study showed that every tenth user of donation platforms donates from 500 to 1,500 rubles per month. Most support educational content (26%), artistic projects (25%) and thematic areas such as history and literature (14%). Analysts noted that about 73% of users prefer to spend from 301 to 500 rubles per month to support authors, and 6% are willing to spend from 1,501 to 3,000 rubles. The survey included 1,200 people who have provided financial support to creators over the past two years.
Differences in preferences were detected among users: women and people over 25 are more supportive of educational projects, and young people between 18 and 25 are interested in original illustrations. Men tend to finance thematic projects, gaming and news channels, podcasts and music. The main reasons for donations were to express gratitude for the content they liked, as well as the desire to receive exclusive materials and support the author. The third most popular motivation is early access to publications.
It turns out that 66% of users who previously donated to authors continue to do so, and 83% regularly support two or three creators. Those who fund four or more writers often use more than one service. Donors are also actively paying for streaming platforms: half subscribe to music services, a third use online cinemas and 31% purchase training courses.
