Here are some steps you can take to reduce or prevent chronic inflammation.
Following an anti-inflammatory diet. Research shows that some diets may protect against inflammation. This is especially true of the Mediterranean diet. Prioritize whole foods, fruits and vegetables, anti-inflammatory oils from fish, nuts and seeds, and try to eat less sugar and drink less alcohol. Omega-3s, curcumin, are also associated with reduced inflammation.
regular exercise. This will help boost your immune system and reduce inflammation. Research shows that aerobic exercise, such as brisk walking, cycling or swimming, is particularly beneficial. Stress and inflammation are known to be linked, so don’t forget stress-reducing yoga, too.
get enough sleep. Poor sleep can increase inflammation. Try to sleep 7-9 hours every night.
