“With Frames, you can start creating worlds that reflect very specific perspectives and aesthetics,” the company wrote in an announcement Monday. “This model allows you to precisely design the look, feel and atmosphere of the world you want to create.”
Frames will not replace the current Gen-3 Alpha generation model, but rather complement it. “We’re gradually rolling out access to Gen-3 Alpha so you can create more of your worlds as part of a larger, more flexible creative pipeline,” the company wrote.
The Gen-3 Alpha is a relatively new model, introduced in June 2024. It is designed for large-scale multimodal learning and marks “a significant improvement in accuracy, consistency and dynamics over Gen-2, and a step towards creating a General World.” Models,” the company announced at the time. The model was recently updated to include finer camera controls and the ability to output video to video.
Alpha Gen-3 was trained on thousands of YouTube videos, a practice that has led to allegations of copyright infringement by YouTube content creators. Testing by 404 Media found that mentioning a specific creator (such as MrBeast) in a post prompted the system to generate images with that creator’s aesthetic.
