A 32-year-old woman from Omsk is involved in an open case under part 3 of article 30 (preparation for a crime and attempted crime) and part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code (large-scale fraud). If the defendant is convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

According to researchers, the attacker took advantage of a flaw in the online platform’s payment system, which allowed him to place orders and collect products for free. It is not specified which market we are talking about.

Police identified the suspect and confiscated stolen property. The list included 735 items: stationery, children’s items, tableware, jewelry, household appliances and others.

In addition, a resident of Omsk was involved in the attempted theft of another 580 assets worth more than 14 million rubles. These orders were placed, but could not be collected because the market’s security service detected a failure and blocked delivery, the police added.

They noted that the criminal investigation is ongoing.

It is not the first time that Russians take advantage of interruptions in the operation of online platforms to order products for free. At the end of October, a resident of Orenburg was sentenced to a year and a half in a general regime colony for defrauding Wildberries of 1.6 million rubles.
