The court found online cinema guilty under part 3 of article 6.21 of the Administrative Code (propaganda of non-traditional relationships and (or) sexual preferences, gender change). Under this article, the company was threatened with administrative suspension of its activities for up to 90 days.
It is not specified what the reason for the fine was.
In September, the Tagansky court fined Kinopoisk 3 million rubles under the same article, as well as 7 million rubles under Part 2 of article 6.21.1 of the Administrative Code (propaganda of pedophilia). The reason was scenes from the film “Amor”, directed by Gaspar Noé, published on the platform.
In December 2022, Vladimir Putin signed a law prohibiting LGBT propaganda, gender reassignment and pedophilia, after which courts began to periodically fine online cinemas for showing LGBT scenes in television series and films. In late November 2023, the Supreme Court recognized LGBT as an extremist movement.
*LGBT is recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation, its activities are prohibited.
