One of the main new products that caused a lot of surprise among users was the appearance LaptopLMa Google tool that, in addition to summarizing long texts using AI, can transform text or links into podcasts spoken by two people with extraordinary fluency.
Now ElevenLabs is upping the ante because with its GenFM feature it wants to do that and more as it supports 32 languages including English, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and more.

To use GenFM, you must first upload a video, text, or document. YouTube. The app then automatically selects two voices to create the podcast. More than a dozen voices are available, the company notes.
One of the interesting screens you might see when the app is preparing an AI-generated podcast is “Add some umm” and “Add some thoughtful pauses” to eliminate any errors.
“We discuss how much it costs to introduce ‘um’, ‘ah’, ‘mmm’/laugh/breath or similar overlays of human dialogue – our goal is to find the right balance between natural and human conversation and ensure the content is useful.” he told TechCrunch Jack McDermott, head of mobile development at ElevenLabs.
“Looking at exceptional long-form podcasts, we find [menos] interruptions and a more natural and insightful flow of conversation. Ultimately, this is the experience we are looking for by making audio storytelling more accessible to different voices and languages,” added the ElevenLabs spokesperson.
