One of RB.RU’s sources warned that the closure could happen in November, another knows that the companies decided to leave the Russian market and warned users in Russia about this.

Esko and Brandfolder’s Russian clients are already preparing for closure, one of the sources understands. RB.RU sent requests to foreign IT companies, but did not receive a response at the time of this publication.

The disconnection of DAM systems threatens to slow down business, a source at one of the consumer goods companies using a DAM system told RB.RU. Users will have to switch back to cloud services like Google Drive or Yandex Disk; They will run the risk of suffering errors in the content and losing it due to lack of versions and “backups”. Companies will have to use employees as “forwarders” and “sharers” of files. If we were talking about preparing paper designs for print, timelines would be delayed due to email or courier approvals, rather than the convenient tools DAM systems provide.

As Brandquad co-founder Philip Denisov explained to RB.RU, his company’s clients, as well as other market players using Esko and Brandfolder software, reported a possible disconnection of services “due to the impossibility of work with Russian companies.

Russian developers propose replacing solutions from Western companies with domestic software solutions.

According to Denisov, for example, the Mediaquad service is a domestic solution of the DAM class and Artwork Management System (AMS), developed by Brandquad.

“A DAM system with AI functionality allows you to centrally store and manage digital assets. For example, these could be photos from filming or events, marketing images, any design, video, audio and other content. All this allows us to optimize processes in marketing, public relations, e-commerce, IT and other very different business areas,” said Denisov. According to him, the Mediaquad AMS module is used by both companies that have production in Russia and need to print packaging, and those that develop a large number of various marketing and advertising materials, including those of contractors.

“Everyone is used to the fact that in IT product development, development processes are managed in Jira, ClickUp, Asana, the Russian analogue of Week, etc. Generally speaking, AMS Mediaquad is the same, but for the production of packaging and advertising materials. Basically, it is the first domestic product in this category to hit the market,” Denisov explained.

As Tatyana Veselova, head of the ELMA365 department of the CRM and BPM department of the Corus Consulting group of companies, clarified to RB.RU, since DAM systems play an important role in optimizing work processes, due to the departure of some suppliers foreign and Following the cessation of IT product support and development, more and more customers decide to switch to domestic solutions within the overall IT landscape.

“Based on our experience, foreign DAM systems can be replaced with domestic BPM solutions (e.g. ELMA365, BPMSoft and others). Depending on the tasks and functionality requirements, BPM systems can be used as a backend (hardware and software part of the system) to implement internal technical processes or configure the necessary integrations with external systems, for example, 1C, mail service and others. ”Veselova said.

The expert added that if functionality is required to work directly or edit media files in single-window mode, these tasks are completed through custom development and the written modules are integrated into the BPM system interface.

  • DAM is a class of systems designed to automate the storage and management of a company’s digital assets.
  • “These systems are used by manufacturers of various products, packaging, pharmaceutical companies, consumer goods, that is, those companies that require automation of development, preparation and approval of the launch of packaging or printed products, automation of the launch of new products in channels external (website, applications, registration in stores and others), as well as companies that are directly related to marketing and advertising,” Veselova said.
  • These systems simplify access to multimedia files for different departments and external partners, ensuring effective communication and compliance with brand standards.

Mass disconnections of Russian users of foreign services followed the introduction of US sanctions, which came into effect on September 12. Services such as Notion Notes, website builders Wix and online stores Ecwid, virtual whiteboard Miro, publishing service Coda and some cloud services from Google and Microsoft have already left Russia.
