SpyLoan apps lure users with fake promises of fast loans. Once installed, they request sensitive data: identities, banking details and even access to SMS, location and contact lists.

The most downloaded applications were Préstamo Seguro-Rápido and Préstamo Rápido-Credit Easy, with more than 1 million downloads each. Other apps target users in Thailand, Indonesia and Senegal.

Despite Google’s security checks, SpyLoan apps continue to bypass security checks. McAfee encourages users to review app permissions, check developer reputation, and enable Google Play Protection.
